The Tress Street Studio Art Colony is headed up by acclaimed local Ballarat Artist Kat Jens. Kat has been prominent on the Ballarat art scene since the early 1970s, and as the studio name grows in infamy, it has been mentioned at times alongside coveted artistic names and colonies such as McCubbin and the Heidelberg School of Art and the bucolic compound headed up by Norman Lindsay. Whilst not quite as bohemian as she was in her youth and not painting as prolifically as she did, Kat inspires a truly iconic colony of artists.
